Benefits of virtual sessions
Online therapy has become increasingly popular with many clients and offers benefits, including:
Increased access. Many people live in an area with limited access to healthcare. Online services can play an important role in our rural communities by increasing accessibility.
Reduced costs for clients. Online services saves money when compared with traditional approaches to providing care. For clients, this often means lower transportation costs, less time missed from work, and less money spent on child care expenses. These are some of the 'hidden costs' of therapy beyond the session fee that many do not factor into the cost of their therapy services.
Same-level client care. Studies have shown there no difference in client outcome between online sessions and face-to-face office visits. It's a matter of personal preference.
Better client experience. For some clients, they are more comfortable and can open up more given their increased comfort having their session in their own space.
More flexibility. Online services are convenient for people with busy schedules or who work from home, have limited transportation options, are desiring more privacy, or feel more comfortable seeking therapy from home.
More choice. It opens the opportunity to work with a particular therapist outside their geographical area.
How can I prepare for my session?
Your session time is an important time for you. Get comfy in a private space. Have water and tissues at hand and maybe a notebook to jot down anything you'd like remember.
In sessions - moving forward
The frequency of your appointments are flexible depending on your needs. New clients often like to start with more frequent sessions, such as weekly, and then space them out when they're feeling better and it feels right for them.

Please note that my psychotherapy practice does not provide emergency services.
